Pray!
The Scriptures tell us that we must pray, and that often we do not receive, simply because we do not ask. We are asking that you pray with us and for us. Pray for our students as they prepare for their ministries; for our faculty and administrative staff; for those expressing an interest in attending MacDiv and seeking ways to prepare to answer God's call. Please pray for all our donors and supporters that, through them, we would have the resources to provide a quality education as we seek to equip a new generation of Christian leaders, missionaries, and pastors. Pray also that God would provide new donors ready to invest in our students and in our mission.
Encourage!
Encourage our students, grads, and former students, with a kind word, a note, or some other means. Encourage the youth you know and encounter to consider MacDiv and a career in ministry, evangelism, missions, and Christian leadership all buttressed by a solid theological education. Encourage our faculty as they research, read, and think critically about the relevant issues of our time. Encourage them by attending events and reading their books and articles. Comment on their work and interact with their thoughts on emerging concerns. Encourage everyone you meet to take a look, or another look at MacDiv. Help spread the word that we are doing relevant, cutting-edge Kingdom work here!
Volunteer!
From time to time, volunteers are needed to assist with special events, welcome and greet visitors to the College, or contribute time, energy, and expertise to our programs. Please contact us to see how your expertise can help us in our mission.
Donate!
At present it costs over $18,000 a year to provide theological education to each student. Tuition fees cover about one quarter of this cost; contributions from the Province of Ontario accounts for 12% and the Canadian Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec (CBOQ) accounts for another 4% of the cost. The balance must come from donations. Without the generous donations of the past and the all-important donations of tomorrow, we could not continue to do this mission-critical work today. We ask you to make a financial contribution to the College. Here are a few of the ways that you can donate to MacDiv:
1) Annual Fund
Due to the growth of our student body and the pressing need to produce Christian leaders, we need to raise $250,000 for our budget for 2009-2010. This goal is nearly double what we have raised in the past. If you are one of our faithful and generous donors we need you to keep supporting us. If you haven't become a donor, would you please help us in our mission of training Christian leaders?
2) Major Gifts
From time to time, the Lord touches peoples' hearts and enables them to make a larger, one-time investment in our ministry. Major gifts enable the College's leadership to plan and work more effectively. A major gift may be recognized through naming, such as an endowment or a scholarship, paying tribute to either the donor or another whom they wish to honour. Please contact the College, and we will prepare a plan and a major gift agreement to ensure that your wishes are compatible with our priorities and mandate.
3) Endowments
Endowments are a way of giving major gifts for a specific purpose. Endowed chairs allow your gift to directly impact the formation of tomorrow's leaders by paying the salary and program costs of a professor. At present there are several fully or partially endowed chairs, but need still exists for further support, especially in the areas of Biblical Studies and Missions. Endowments also support students by providing scholarships or bursaries to assist them with tuition and expenses. Currently we have a need for new endowments to provide scholarships for both Canadian and international students. Many naming opportunities exist to honour or to pay tribute. Please contact us for more information on how your endowment can be used to support MacDiv.
4) Special Projects
Occasionally special needs arise and funding is required for one-time projects. We are presently in need of money for our Canadian Baptist Heritage Centre and our New Testament Chair. Other opportunities for special projects include inviting visiting scholars to come to MacDiv, or re-equipping our computer lab to provide our students with needed resources.
5) Planned Giving
Planned giving is simply doing something today to ensure that the ministry of the College will continue to benefit from your estate. Your lawyer or estate planner can contact the College on your behalf for more detailed information. Planned giving may also be part of a more complex plan providing estate preservation and tax considerations that benefit your family and heirs.
How to...
Giving can be as easy as writing a cheque or calling us with your credit card number. We can also arrange for direct debit so that your gift is made automatically every month on the date that you specify.
Some people have given appreciated securities such as stocks or bonds in order to take advantage of tax-saving opportunities. Occasionally groups have cooperated to regularly support one large project. Major gifts can have significant impact on taxes and your estate and you may wish to discuss options with your tax consultant or estate planner.
