Thank you for visiting McMaster Divinity College's website. We are a seminary moving purposefully into the twenty-first century.
Your visiting this website probably means that you too are thinking of seminary. I hope that we can help you to weigh the value of seminary education for you. Seminaries have been integral to the life of the church for centuries, and still serve as the best place to train men and women for ministry, whatever form that ministry may take. We think that we are one of the best in North America in doing this. We hope that you will think so, too.
We provide the kind of training that creates flexible and responsive graduates, ready to serve wherever and however God calls them.
Ministry in the twenty-first century - whether that means pastoral
ministry, chaplaincy, religious education, scholar-teacher, or any
number of other ministries - will become increasingly complex and
diverse, and will require that those called by God have the best
preparation possible. Some of our students are currently training for
ministry situations that we cannot even anticipate or foresee at this
time. We think that we can provide the kind of training that creates flexible and responsive graduates, ready to serve wherever and however God calls them.
McMaster Divinity College is a well-established institution, whose roots go back to the nineteenth century, but we have a vibrant and relevant approach to ministry today and tomorrow. We are a broadly but clearly evangelical divinity college, with quality faculty who are passionate about ministry and training others for ministry. Our faculty teach, speak and write with the training of church leaders at the forefront of their work. We would welcome you to explore and experience how you can be trained for ministry and service as well.
Our heritage as a Divinity College is Baptist (our roots are in the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec), but our outlook is multi-denominational. We have students from over 35 denominations studying with us, and our faculty themselves represent a number of different denominations. Our students also reflect a broad mix of ethnic and national backgrounds, age diversity, and, of course, both men and women training together for Christian service. We are sure that you will find the atmosphere of the College inviting and accepting, whatever your particular denominational affiliation.
You will also notice that we have some of the lowest tuition rates in North America. Besides that, we are a well-funded institution, able to provide generous financial aid packages to many of our students. I encourage you to apply early for this funding.
We enjoy a well-earned reputation for providing a unique combination of
solid essential academic training and well-structured integration of the
practice of ministry. We continue our tradition of providing Ministry Formation for every year of the Master of Divinity program. Recently, we have
added a number of specialties to both our Master of Divinity and our
Master of Theological Studies programs. I encourage you to consider
whether one of these specialties is right for you.
I am sure that you will have further questions as you learn more about
us. If I or any of my colleagues at McMaster Divinity College can help you
to answer these questions as you respond to God's call on your life,
please do not hesitate to contact us. We are firmly committed to training students today for Christian leadership tomorrow. McMaster Divinity College may well be where God is calling you for your training and preparation to serve him.
I wish you God's best in your spiritual journey.
