McMaster Divinity College has one of the most generous financial aid and scholarship programs of any seminary in North America. A combination of low tuition and rates, and the financial resources available through our scholarship and bursary program, ensure that most students can proceed through their program without incurring a burdensome debt load.
Through the generosity of numerous individuals, churches, and foundations, we are able to provide substantial financial aid to most qualifying students.

Financial Aid
The purpose of the financial aid program at MacDiv is to enable students to pursue theological education and training when their financial circumstances make this too difficult. Normally, students receiving financial aid will attend full-time (i.e. at least 8 courses per year within the M.Div. or M.T.S. programs, at least 4 courses per year in the M.A. program, or be enrolled in the Ph.D. program). Under some circumstances (such as full-time ministry or health issues which preclude full-time study), a student may apply for assistance.
Due to the generosity of individuals and foundations over the years, there are various types of aid available. The Financial Aid Committee determines awards based on a variety of factors, such as previous academic performance, financial resources available to the student and course load.

McMaster Divinity College Prizes, Awards and Fellowships
McMaster Divinity College has been given a number of gifts by supporters to enable the College to give certain students prizes and awards at the end of the academic year. These prizes and awards are given to students who show exceptional ability in certain specified areas.
Work-study grants to provide Student Assistants for faculty and staff (maximum 10 hours per week) are awarded on a competitive basis to students in good academic standing. Full time students are given priority over part time registrants. Notice of available positions is advertised within the College. Work-study grants are separate and independent from other forms of financial aid and do not require a needs-test. Student assistantships, however, are usually awarded to students of distinguished academic performance.
