The Certificate of Christian Studies (Cert.C.S.) is a non-degree program that allows for one or more of the following:
- people over the age of 23 to take 10 courses as an introduction to theological studies
- people without undergraduate degrees to take some basic first courses in the areas of theological study
- people who already have their first theological degree to take up to 10 courses of continuing education for academic credit
Programs can be either as advised below or custom designed depending upon the level of theological education the individual brings to the program. Please consult with the Office of the Academic Dean (Rm 244).
Students may participate in Divinity College courses either on a full time or part time basis, and be recognized upon the successful completion of 30 units of study with a certificate. Each student will have the opportunity to cover foundational material as well as focus on a particular area of study of his or her choice.
Students use this program for varying purposes:
- Some may wish to enhance their own faith development through the input and interaction of courses
- Christian education workers may be interested in learning more about the age group with whom they work
- Pastors may choose to reflect on a new area of theology or ministry practice
Course Requirements:
Thirty units (10 courses) are required for the certificate. Besides fulfilling all of the specific program requirements, a grade point average of at least C- (1.6/4 GPA) is required to complete this certificate. No courses below C- will be counted towards the certificate.
