The God-breathed Scriptures that the apostle Paul told Timothy were ‘able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus’ and that were ‘useful in teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness’ (2 Tim. 3:15-16) were nothing less than the books of the Old Testament. It is imperative then that we study the Old Testament, for it is indeed Christian Scripture and
relevant for our faith today.

I am committed to a three-dimensional reading of the Old Testament – one that takes seriously the historical and literary dimensions of these ancient writings, but also reflects on the role they can play in our contemporary context.

The church today needs leaders that take seriously their responsibility to ‘speak the truth in love’ so that ‘we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching’ (Eph. 4:14-15). In a post-foundational culture I want to educate a generation of godly truth-seekers and –tellers.
